Just Perfect conditions for making the final adjustments to the crews at Lake Ruataniwha today. In the boat park some boats are being completely rerigged in the hope that more speed will result while others are being thrashed up and down the course.
1500 athletes provide the horsepower for 1250 crews in the 44 event programme. Racing is set to start at 8.00 am tomorrow.
Some of the biggest entries are in the Under 17 and Under 18 events with the Under 17 single taking the early prize for the most entries - one has to wonder if the 7th ranked sculler from a school should be entered for the event - what the hell it gives them another race. Interestingly one school has realised the importance of a study Nick McMaster did a few years ago and are focussing their attentions on a single event. Hope it works out for them.
Anyway good luck to all and good racing
